Boil water warning issued for South Pinellas County, St. Petersburg, Florida

~

"Sorry folks, it's not Global Warming. Florida is not being flooded by the rising oceans."

A 48-inch water main broke in Largo, FLORIDA tonight, prompting a mandatory boil water warning for all Pinellas County Utilities customers living south of Belleair Road.

The warning also affects residents north of Belleair Road - if they are experiencing low water pressure.

The water main broke near 142nd Avenue and Belcher Road earlier this evening (about 6 pm - December 23). The rupture shut water service to the city of Largo, and either cut water or reduced pressure in Seminole, Pinellas Park and some beach communities.

Residents are being asked to temporarily reduce any non-essential water use.

Residents without water are asked to follow boil water precautions once service has been restored:

-All water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes must be boiled. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

-A rolling boil of one to three minutes is sufficient.

There are some utility workers who will make some money of this too. They will be making Double and Triple time working on this during a Holiday weekend.
