Diet soda without Aspartame?

~

By Chimp

Aspartame, commonly known by the brand name NutraSweet, is one of the most commonly used artificial sweeteners.

The 1982 introduction of aspartame-sweetened Diet Coke accelerated this trend. Today, at least in the United States, "diet" is nearly synonymous with the use of aspartame in beverages.

Aspartame is linked to some very bad health problems. It is proven to add formaldehyde to the consumer's body. Too much formaldehyde leads to methanol poisoning, which can lead to death.

In addition, it is actually worse for diabetics than sugar. It can cause them to go into convulsions and can also damage their optic nerve.

Sucralose has also caused many bad side effects in many people.

Here’s a short list of diet soda's that probably don't contain Aspartame:

7Up Plus, Crystal Light (bottles), Diet Coke with Splenda, Diet RC Cola, Diet Rite all flavors, Pepsi One, Slice One.

Large list in Wikipedia has a very good chart on this subject, at this link, at the bottom of the page:

Diet Rite also has some new flavors like tangerine and peach soda.

Here's the Diet Rite web site:

Most of the Diet Rite sodas do not contain aspartame and use splenda. I'm not sure if this is true for all their flavors, but they advertise this fact on the front of the can.
